1. Purpose of the policy

This document explains how Acme Advisory Services c.c. (‘our’, ‘us’, ‘we’) comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (‘the POPI Act’) when processing Personal Information.

The phrase ‘Personal Information’ is defined in the POPI Act to mean information relating to an identifiable, living, natural person. Where applicable, it also refers to an identifiable, existing legal person. It includes information about race, gender, sex, pregnancy, marital status, national, ethnic or social origin, physicality, disability, religion, education, and medical, financial, criminal or employment history. It includes any identifying number, symbol, address and the biometric information of the person. It also includes personal opinions, and the name of the person if it appears with other personal information relating to the person, or if the disclosure of the name itself would reveal information about the person.

The term ‘processing’ is defined in the POPI Act to mean any use of Personal Information including the collection, recording, storage, updating, retrieval, alteration, dissemination and distribution, degradation, erasure and destruction.

2. Processing of Personal Information

Acme Advisory Services c.c. will collect only that Personal Information that is necessary for Us to render the services required of Us. These services may include the registration and deregistration of motor vehicles as well of the transfer of ownership of motor vehicles.

If you do not share the necessary Personal Information, we cannot provide you with any service. We may contact you about our services that we believe may be beneficial. If you do not. Want the communications, you can instruct us to remove your contact details from our list. You have the right to access Personal Information that we keep by following the procedures.

3. Sharing, storing and retaining Personal Information

We don’t sell personal information and therefore we will not disclose your personal information.  We share Personal Information with our business partners and service providers, in order to provide the required services. We need to disclose personal information to employees of ours who require such information to do their duties

We ensure that they are contractually bound to adopt the necessary technological and security measures to protect the integrity of Personal Information. Whilst we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your personal information we take all reasonable steps to keep it secure. We back-up all your personal information on a regular basis. Email addresses are provide on the website which enable you to contact us. In order to check for viruses we reserve the right to monitor and inspect all material and information transmitted over our system.

Although our website may include links providing direct access to other Internet resources, including websites, social media accounts, applications, and documents, Acme Advisory Services c.c. is not responsible for the accuracy of information or content contained on these websites and platforms. Acme Advisory Services c.c. has no control over the nature, content and availability of the information and content on those sites, and the inclusion of any links does not necessarily imply a recommendation or endorse the views expressed within them. Every effort is made to keep the website fully functional, however, Acme Advisory Services c.c. takes no responsibility for, and will not be liable for, the website being temporarily unavailable due to technical issues beyond our control.

We will disclose Personal Information when required to do so according to the laws of the Republic of South Africa and all matters in connection herewith shall be determined in accordance with such laws.We will also notify the relevant regulators of any security breach as required by law.

We retain Personal Information for legitimate business and statistical purposes. And to meet the legal obligations.
